14 Civic Poll Candidates Banned for 2–5 Years Over Expense Negligence

The Election Commission has taken strict action against 14 candidates who contested municipal corporation elections, banning them for 2 to 5 years due to failure in properly declaring their election expenses.

 
 

The Election Commission has disqualified 14 candidates who contested the councillor election in the Municipal Corporation in the capital Bhopal for two to five years. These candidates were negligent in paying the election expenses. Out of the 14 candidates, 2 have been disqualified for five years, while the remaining 12 have been disqualified for two years.

Those declared disqualified include 1 BJP, 2 Congress, 1 AAP, 2 BSP, the rest are independent candidates. The State Election Commission had issued notices to all.

After receiving the report from the District Election Officer, the State Election Commission had issued notices to all. Now, they will not be able to contest elections for 2 to 5 years.
