Sudden Surge in Narmada River Leaves Three Stranded

A sudden rise in the Narmada river’s water level stranded three individuals midstream. Rescue operations were launched swiftly to bring them to safety.

A major accident was averted on Wednesday morning in the pilgrimage town of Omkareshwar. Two youths and a boy reached Nagarghat for bathing in the Narmada. At that time, there was less water on the ghat. All three reached the rocks in the middle of the Narmada river. Shortly after, water was released from the Omkareshwar dam by running a turbine to generate electricity, before they could understand anything, all three got stuck in the strong current. Fortunately, due to the promptness of the Sailors Union Home Guard, SDRF personnel present there, all three were saved safely.

According to the information, Bunty father Dojram (29), Sunil father Kishanlal and Ansh (4), residents of Vidisha, were bathing on the stones at Nagarghat. During this time, the flow of the river suddenly increased due to the release of water from the dam. Despite warnings several times, all three did not come out and got stuck in the middle.

Seeing the lives of all three in danger, Selu father Mangu of Omkareshwar Sailors Union reached first with a boat without an engine to save the trapped pilgrims. But due to the lack of an engine, his attempt could not succeed. After this, Boatman Union Pintu alias Pankaj Kewat father Mangu arrived with his diesel engine boat and brought all the three safely back to Nagar Ghat.
