A festive Diwali turned into a nightmare for a family in Kachnariya village, Sehore district, after two of their children died, and a third was hospitalized following treatment for vomiting and diarrhea. The grieving father claims the children's condition deteriorated rapidly after they were administered injections by a private doctor.
The incident occurred on Monday when Akhilesh Malviya’s three children—eight-year-old Vansh, one-and-a-half-year-old Anshika, and three-year-old Vanshika—developed severe vomiting and diarrhea after dinner. The family rushed them to a private practitioner in a nearby village.
According to the father, the doctor gave the children medicine and injections. However, within hours, their health worsened drastically. Anshika passed away at the Civil Hospital, while Vansh died en route to the district hospital. The surviving sister, Vanshika, is now in critical condition at Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal.
“We only showed the children to the doctor and gave them the medicine. Everything changed in hours. Our home has lost its light,” said a distraught Akhilesh.
Following the deaths, a health department team visited the village, seized the administered medicines for laboratory testing, and launched an investigation. Dr. Amit Mathur, BMO of Sehore Civil Hospital, stated that while the prescribed medicines appeared correct, the cause of the rapid deterioration is under scrutiny.
Local political leaders have demanded a thorough probe and financial assistance for the bereaved family. The community remains in shock as authorities work to determine if medical negligence led to this heartbreaking tragedy.
