Tragic Road Accidents in Madhya Pradesh: 3 Dead in Shajapur Bike Collision, 15 Injured in Panna Durga Idol Immersion Crash

In a heartbreaking turn of events in Madhya Pradesh, two separate road accidents have claimed lives and left several injured during festive celebrations. On Thursday night, a triple motorcycle collision near Nipania Dam in Shajapur district resulted in three fatalities, while a speeding Bolero vehicle plowed into a Durga idol immersion procession in Panna, injuring around 15 people. Authorities are investigating both incidents, highlighting road safety concerns during festival seasons.

The Shajapur accident occurred around 9 PM under Mohan Barodia police jurisdiction. Three motorcycles collided head-on, killing three young men on the spot: Ravindra Gurjar (son of Rameshchandra, from Kharkhedi), Yuvraj Kanjar (son of Sunil, from Nipania), and Mahendra Rajput (son of Babu Singh, from Kadula). Two others, including Deepak (son of Kailash), sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Mohan Barodia Hospital. Deepak, an eighth-grader, was later transferred to Shajapur district hospital and then to Dewas for advanced treatment due to head and eye trauma.

Relatives revealed that the victims had been heading to watch Dussehra festivities. Ravindra was a student in Indore, riding with Deepak. Family members and villagers gathered at the hospital in shock. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case, with an investigation underway to determine the cause of the collision.

Meanwhile, in Panna's Pawai area, chaos ensued when a Bolero, traveling from Pawai to Simaria, first hit a motorcycle near Khamaria turn on Mohandra road around 7:30-8 PM. The vehicle then lost control and rammed into a crowd participating in a Durga idol immersion procession headed to a local pond. Eyewitnesses described panic as 14-15 villagers were injured. Locals and police quickly transported them to Pawai health center, with critical cases referred to Katni and Panna hospitals.

Pawai MLA Prahlad Lodhi visited the site, coordinating aid and assuring support. Panna SP Nivedita Naidu confirmed the driver's arrest and ongoing probe. These incidents underscore the need for stricter traffic measures during religious events like Durga Puja and Dussehra.
