Serious concerns over student safety have emerged after an uncle and nephew were accused of injecting drugs and filming girl students inside a government school in Morena district, allegedly assaulting the acting headmaster when he intervened. Police have registered a case and are searching for the accused, officials said on Friday.
The incident occurred on December 29 at the Government Middle School in Tarsama Gram Panchayat, under the Porsa development block. According to the complaint, the accused—identified as Saftu Tomar and his nephew Chhotu Tomar, residents of the same village—had been repeatedly entering the school premises and consuming narcotics.
As per the headmaster’s statement, the duo injected drugs in an unused room of the school on the afternoon of December 29 and began recording videos of female students on the campus. Alarmed by their behaviour, several girl students approached acting headmaster Satendra Tomar and reported the incident.
When the headmaster confronted the two and asked them to leave the premises, they allegedly became violent. The accused are said to have assaulted him and torn official school registers during the scuffle. Local residents intervened after hearing the commotion and managed to stop the assault. Photographs and a video purportedly showing the attack and drug-related items inside the school have since surfaced.
Satendra Tomar later filed a police complaint on January 2, citing a delay due to a medical emergency in his family. “The accused regularly take drug injections inside the school and make videos of girls. When stopped, they resort to violence. The same happened on December 29,” he said.
Police confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections related to assault and intimidation. Porsa Police Station in-charge Dinesh Kushwah said efforts are underway to locate and arrest the accused. “Based on the complaint, a case has been filed. Teams are searching for the two men,” he said.
However, the incident has raised wider questions about campus security and the availability of narcotics in rural areas. Drug injections, cigarettes and other paraphernalia were reportedly found inside the school, but there has been no formal probe announced into the source of the substances.
Parents and residents have expressed concern over the safety of students and demanded stricter security measures at government schools. Education officials are expected to review the matter, even as police investigations continue.
The case has highlighted vulnerabilities in rural school infrastructure and supervision, with calls for coordinated action by the education department and law enforcement to prevent such breaches in the future.
