A young couple was discovered dead in a hotel room here Thursday evening in what police are treating as a suspected case of double suicide by poisoning. The deceased have been identified as Ravi Saket, 25, and Kajal (also known as Bitti) Saket, 21, both residents of the same village. According to preliminary police findings, the pair consumed poison in their hotel room after what appears to have been a social gathering that included alcohol consumption. According to family members, Kajal had informed her household Wednesday afternoon that she was stepping out for shopping. However, she proceeded directly to the hotel with Ravi and an acquaintance named Atul Saket, who accompanied them but left after seeing them settled in the room.

Their decision to book a hotel room together went unnoticed by family members until the bodies were recovered late Thursday evening. Prmod Saket, a relative of the deceased youth, informed police that he suspected suicide based on the evidence found at the scene. "We found bottles of alcohol and other items that suggest they consumed poison deliberately," he stated.

The Samman police station received information from hotel management and immediately deployed personnel to the location. Upon arrival, officers forced open the locked door only to discover the tragic scene. Both bodies were promptly shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for postmortem examination.
