A sense of panic gripped the Karahiya area in Rewa on Tuesday after the body of a young man, who had been missing for the last two days following a violent clash, was found floating in the Beehar River. The deceased has been identified as Lal alias Ritesh Choudhary, a resident of the Amahiya neighborhood. The recovery has sparked intense tension in the locality, with family members alleging that he was murdered and his body was dumped into the river to erase evidence.

Missing After Nipaniya Brawl

The incident traces back two days ago to the Nipaniya locality, falling under the jurisdiction of the City Kotwali police station. According to local sources, a violent confrontation broke out between two groups over a dispute. Ritesh Choudhary was reportedly present at the spot during the altercation and went missing under highly suspicious circumstances immediately after the clash.

His anxious family members had been searching for him across the city and inquiring with relatives, but could not trace his whereabouts until the grim discovery on Tuesday.

Local Residents Alert Police

On Tuesday morning, some residents near the Beehar riverbanks in Karahiya spotted a body floating in the water. The locals immediately alerted the City Kotwali police. A police team rushed to the spot, and with the help of local divers, retrieved the body from the river. As the news spread, Ritesh's family members reached the site and identified the body.

Visible Injury Marks Spark Anger

On-site inspections revealed multiple blunt trauma and injury marks on Ritesh's body, fueling the family's suspicion of foul play. The relatives staged a protest at the spot, claiming that the missing youth was brutally assaulted during the Nipaniya brawl, which ultimately led to his death. They have demanded the immediate arrest of the individuals involved in the fight two days ago.

Post-Mortem Report Awaited

City Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Nisha Mishra confirmed the recovery of the body from the Beehar River. Speaking to reporters, SHO Mishra stated that the body has been sent to the district hospital for a post-mortem examination. "The body has been identified as that of Lal alias Ritesh Choudhary. We are questioning individuals who were involved in the dispute in Nipaniya. The exact cause of death will be clear once the post-mortem report is received, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings," the official said.

Investigation Focuses on Suspects

Meanwhile, heavy police deployment was witnessed briefly to maintain law and order situation in the area. Police sources indicated that a few suspects from the Nipaniya neighborhood have been detained for questioning regarding the initial brawl. Investigators are currently reconstructing the timeline of events from the night Ritesh went missing to determine whether he was thrown into the river alive or dead.
