Congress to Train 14,000 Mandal and Block Leaders in Two Months

Regional leaders to spearhead grassroots mobilisation drive; Vindhya zone kicks off May 27

The Madhya Pradesh Congress is rolling out an ambitious training initiative to energise its ground-level organisation, targeting 13,000 mandal presidents and over 1,000 block and municipal leaders within the next six to eight weeks. The push marks a significant shift in the party's mobilisation strategy, prioritising local leadership to conduct sessions rather than relying on external speakers.

The initiative formally launches in Vindhya region—covering Sidhi and Singrauli districts—from May 27, with a two-day intensive programme scheduled for May 27-28.

Decentralised training with local oversight

What distinguishes this campaign is its emphasis on regional ownership. Senior party leaders from each zone will mentor grassroots cadres in their own areas, ensuring messaging reflects local political contexts and ground realities. The Congress believes this approach will deepen organisational rootedness while building confidence among mandal and block-level functionaries ahead of the electoral cycle.

"We're not sending external trainers to every corner," said party sources familiar with the plan. "The intention is to strengthen local leadership and make them credible voices in their own constituencies."

AI, ChatGPT training included

Breaking from traditional Congress training modules, this cycle incorporates digital literacy and artificial intelligence tools. Party workers will receive instruction on leveraging ChatGPT, social media strategy, and counter-narrative building—recognising the competition's digital dominance in the information space.

The training segments will cover organisational mechanics, booth-level voter management, constitutional values, and ideological messaging. Workers will be equipped to respond to opposition narratives at both grassroots and digital levels.

First session's speaker lineup

The Vindhya programme will feature senior figures from the region itself:

Kamleshwar Patel, former state minister, will address current political challenges and Congress's electoral prospects in the zone. Ajay Singh (popularly known as Rahul Bhaiya), former leader of opposition, will guide cadres on communicating the party's development record and criticisms of the current BJP government to voters.

Vivek Tankha, Rajya Sabha member and senior advocate, will lead a session on constitutional importance and Congress's role in defending democratic institutions.

Curriculum: Ground operation to ideology

The two-day schedule balances technical and ideological components.

Dr. Sanjay Kamle will cover booth activation and ward committee mobilisation. Lalit Sen will focus on electoral mechanics, emphasising the critical voter list and booth-level agent responsibilities. Lakhan Ghanghoriya will address election management protocols.

On the digital front, trainers will introduce Congress workers to AI tools and social media frameworks, particularly for countering opposition narratives. Ran Vijay Singh Lochab will address communal polarisation concerns, reinforcing the party's syncretic political philosophy.

State leaders take charge on day two

The second day of each regional training will feature top party brass. For Vindhya, PCC Chief Jitu Paware will speak on caste census initiatives, social harmony, and the core message of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra: "A shop of love in the market of hatred."

Harish Choudhury, the state in-charge, will conclude with motivational messaging on Congress ideology and organisational pride.

Rolling out across regions

After Vindhya's launch, similar two-day camps will cascade across the state's administrative regions, with local senior leaders conducting parallel sessions. The party estimates completing the programme across all 13,000 mandals and 1,006 blocks within the stipulated timeframe.

Party officials view this as preparatory groundwork ahead of state assembly elections. The emphasis on local leadership and digital engagement reflects Congress's effort to modernise its grassroots structure while maintaining ideological consistency.

The initiative underscores the party's belief that electoral outcomes hinge on booth-level organisation and workers' capacity to engage voters directly—a recognition that comes even as digital influence reshapes Indian politics.
