Rewa Murder Case: Two Friends Arrested for Killing Security Guard Over Professional Jealousy

Rewa Police arrested two men for allegedly murdering their friend, a security guard, in Uttar Pradesh's Mahuriya forest. Police say jealousy over the victim's career growth was the motive.

Rewa City Kotwali police have solved the murder of a security guard, arresting two of his close friends who allegedly killed him out of jealousy over his growing influence at work. The accused allegedly strangled the victim in a forest in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh after luring him there under the pretext of a gathering.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Anup Sen, a resident of Nipania locality in Rewa, who worked as a security guard. He had been missing since May 18, following which his family lodged a missing person complaint at City Kotwali police station.

Considering the seriousness of the case, police launched an investigation across Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring states. During the search, information was received about a human skeleton found in the Mahuriya forest in Uttar Pradesh. Subsequent investigation and identification confirmed that the remains were those of Anup Sen.

Friends Turned Accused

Police identified the accused as Yashwant Chaturvedi, a resident of Neeri in Uttar Pradesh, and Pankaj Shukla, a resident of Itma in Uttar Pradesh. The two are related as brothers-in-law.

During interrogation, police said the accused confessed that all three worked as security guards. Although Anup had joined later, he had earned the confidence of the company and had started arranging security personnel for assignments, increasing his influence within the organisation.

Investigators said the accused allegedly became resentful of Anup's professional progress and conspired to eliminate him.

Murder Planned in Forest

According to police, on May 18, Yashwant took Anup to his native village, Devra, on a Bullet motorcycle. The two allegedly spent the night consuming alcohol at a local temple.

The following morning, after leaving the temple, Yashwant called Pankaj to join them. The trio then travelled to the Mahuriya forest, where they continued drinking.

Police alleged that during the gathering, the two accused strangled Anup using a towel (gamcha). To ensure his death, they also assaulted him before fleeing the scene.

Motorcycle Number Plate Changed

Police said that after the murder, Yashwant handed over the victim's Bullet motorcycle to Pankaj. In an attempt to conceal evidence and avoid detection, the motorcycle's registration number was allegedly changed.

Based on technical evidence, electronic surveillance and other investigative leads, police tracked down and arrested both accused.

Further Investigation Underway

The accused have been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway. Police are continuing the investigation to complete the forensic and documentary aspects of the case.

The murder, allegedly driven by professional jealousy among close friends, has shocked residents and highlighted the role of technical evidence in solving complex missing-person cases that later turn into homicide investigations.
