Tension erupted in Ujanihai Tola under Garh police station area after a woman died in suspicious circumstances following an alleged family dispute that started over a dog.

Mamta Tiwari, wife of Ramesh Tiwari, was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital on the night of June 27 in critical condition. She succumbed during treatment. Her family has accused relatives Rinku Tiwari, Neelu Tiwari, and Neelam Tiwari of assaulting her and administering poison.

According to Mamta’s son Arjun Tiwari, the dispute began when a row broke out over a dog between the two sides of the family. What started as an argument soon turned violent. The family alleged that the accused beat Mamta and forced her to consume poison, leading to her deteriorating health.

A video of Mamta recorded before her death has surfaced. In it, she is seen accusing Rinku, Neelu, and Neelam of assaulting her. Police are treating the video as an important piece of evidence in the investigation.

This was not the first clash between the families. On June 2, Mamta had filed a complaint at Garh police station mentioning the ongoing dispute over the dog along with old enmity and land-related issues. The complaint suggests long-standing tension between the two families.

Garh police have registered a case based on the family’s complaint and launched an investigation. Officers said the exact cause of death will only be clear after the postmortem report. They are examining the video statement, the previous complaint, and other evidence.
