Teonthar BJP Leaders Share Stage After Rift, Exchange Brief Greeting
Teonthar BJP leaders Siddharth Tiwari and Shyamlal Dwivedi meet briefly at wedding event, months after ticket row and public spat
Months after a bitter political fallout in Madhya Pradesh’s Teonthar Vidhansabha area, two senior BJP leaders were seen sharing the same space on Sunday night. Sitting MLA Siddharth Tiwari and former विधायक Shyamlal Dwivedi came face to face during a wedding ceremony in Rewa district, marking their first public interaction since last year’s Assembly ticket controversy.
The moment, captured on video and circulated locally, showed a brief and somewhat restrained exchange between the two.
First public meeting
According to those present at the event, the leaders crossed paths during the Occasion . It was the first time they had been seen together in public since differences surfaced over the BJP ticket allocation in the 2023 Assembly elections.
While both attended the same function, there was no indication of any extended conversation.
Gesture on stage
In the widely shared clip, Siddharth Tiwari is seen approaching Dwivedi and placing a garland around his neck, a customary gesture at public gatherings. Soon after, he moved ahead without stopping for further interaction.
Dwivedi, on the other hand, appeared to briefly hold Tiwari’s hand, possibly in greeting, but the exchange lasted only a few seconds before the MLA proceeded back towards his seat.
Formal, not friendly
Observers described the interaction as largely formal. There was no visible sign of warmth or reconciliation beyond the basic gesture. The body language in the video suggested that the meeting was more out of courtesy than a sign of political rapprochement.
Local party workers present at the venue also noted that the two leaders maintained distance for the rest of the event.
Ticket row backdrop
The friction between the two BJP leaders dates back to the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. The party had dropped Shyamlal Dwivedi, who was the sitting MLA at the time, and fielded Siddharth Tiwari instead.
The decision led to discontent within local party circles and marked the beginning of a visible Potitical distance between the two Leader .
January remarks escalated tension
Tensions escalated earlier this year when, in January 2025, Dwivedi publicly criticised Siddharth Tiwari and also made remarks involving his grandfather, late Shriniwas Tiwari, a prominent political figure in the region.
Those comments had deepened the rift, with no joint appearances or public engagements involving both leaders reported since then—until now.
Political implications
While Sunday’s brief interaction has drawn attention in local political circles, it remains unclear whether it signals any thaw in relations. Party sources indicated that no formal reconciliation efforts have been announced so far.
For now, the Teonthar BJP leadership appears to be maintaining a cautious distance, even as both leaders continue to remain influential in the region.
The Teonthar BJP leaders’ brief meeting, though limited to a ceremonial exchange, has once again brought their strained relationship into focus ahead of future political developments.
