Worker dies from toxic gas exposure; while cleaning sewer 2 workers still critical in Satna, entered pit without safety gear

On Thursday afternoon near Triveni Palace in the Kripalpur area three workers were exposed to toxic methane gas while cleaning a sewer in Satna, leaving one dead and two unconscious.

Eyewitness at the scene used ropes and an ambulance with oxygen cylinders to pull all three workers out and rushed them to the hospital. Doctors declared one worker dead, while the other two are undergoing treatment.

Eyewitnesses told that all three workers had entered the sewer without any safety equipment.

This is the second case in four days of workers falling ill due to toxic gas in Satna’s sewer lines. Earlier, on September 22, near Kristukula School, two employees of PC Snehil Company were manually cleaning a sewer when their health deteriorated.
