Young Man Drowns in Well While Trying to Save Niece in Singrauli

A tragic incident was reported from CTI Basti in Singrauli’s Morwa police station area on Sunday evening, where a 20-year-old man drowned in a well while attempting to save his niece.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Anurag, a native of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, who had been living with his uncle in Singrauli. Anurag was walking with his young niece sitting on his shoulders when the child accidentally slipped and fell into a nearby well.

Without hesitation, Anurag jumped in to rescue her. Thanks to the quick thinking of a local woman, the girl was safely pulled out. However, Anurag could not be located for nearly half an hour. When locals finally managed to retrieve him from the water, he had already succumbed.

Police officials, including Morwa Station In-Charge Umesh Pratap Singh, arrived at the scene shortly after being informed. Preliminary investigation suggests it was an accidental drowning. The incident has left the family and local residents deeply shaken.
