Youth climbs 150-foot tower demanding marriage in Ashoknagar

A 22-year-old youth in Ashoknagar district created high drama after climbing a 150-foot mobile tower, demanding to marry the girl he loves.

 The incident took place on Saturday evening in Pandri village of Chanderi tehsil and continued through the night. After nearly 16 hours of negotiations, the young man finally came down on Sunday around 11:30 a.m. following the persuasion of officials and family members.


Stubborn Demand for Immediate Marriage

The youth, identified as Shailendra from Ludhaya village, climbed the tower around 7 p.m. on Saturday. He insisted that the girl he wanted to marry be brought to the spot and their wedding be solemnized immediately. Throughout the night, his family, relatives, and local authorities tried to convince him to come down, but he refused, repeatedly threatening to jump off the tower.


Administration’s Efforts Paid Off

Officials, including the Tehsildar, police personnel, and local administration, remained at the site overnight. After continuous efforts and counseling, the youth finally agreed to come down around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, ending the tense situation. He was safely brought down and taken into police custody for further legal procedures.


Family Relieved After 16 Hours of Turmoil

According to reports, Shailendra’s maternal uncle lives in Pandri village, where he had come to visit before the incident. Locals gathered in large numbers at the spot as the spectacle drew widespread attention in the area. His family expressed relief after the ordeal ended without any tragedy.
