iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 17 Pro Price: How Much More?
Sandeep Patel
iPhone 18 Pro prices start at ₹1,64,900 in India. Compare iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 17 Pro prices across 256GB, 512GB and 1TB variants.
Apple's new iPhone 18 Pro range has arrived in India with a significant price increase over last year's iPhone 17 Pro. The starting price has moved up by ₹30,000, while buyers opting for higher storage configurations face an even steeper increase.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 for 256GB, compared with ₹1,34,900 for the equivalent iPhone 17 Pro at launch.
Apple has also introduced a 2TB storage option for the iPhone 18 Pro for the first time, taking the price to ₹3,14,900. The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900 and reaches ₹3,29,900 for 2TB.
The sharp increase comes amid higher component costs, particularly memory, as demand from artificial intelligence-related computing continues to put pressure on the global memory supply chain.
iPhone 18 Pro Price in India
The iPhone 18 Pro is available in four storage configurations in India.
| Variant | iPhone 17 Pro | iPhone 18 Pro | Price Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| 256GB | ₹1,34,900 | ₹1,64,900 | ₹30,000 |
| 512GB | ₹1,54,900 | ₹1,89,900 | ₹35,000 |
| 1TB | ₹1,74,900 | ₹2,39,900 | ₹65,000 |
| 2TB | — | ₹3,14,900 | New option |
The biggest comparable increase comes with the 1TB model, which is ₹65,000 more expensive than its predecessor.
The new 2TB version has no direct iPhone 17 Pro equivalent because Apple did not offer that storage capacity on last year's model.
Pro Max Costs Even More
The iPhone 18 Pro Max carries a ₹15,000 premium over the standard Pro model at each storage level.
Its India pricing starts at ₹1,79,900 for 256GB and rises to ₹3,29,900 for the 2TB configuration.
That means customers choosing the top-end iPhone 18 Pro Max will now have to spend more than ₹3.2 lakh before considering any accessories or additional purchases.
The Pro Max therefore remains Apple's most expensive conventional iPhone offering in the new lineup.
How Much Has Price Increased?
The entry-level iPhone 18 Pro is about 22 per cent more expensive than the iPhone 17 Pro at launch.
The 512GB model has seen a ₹35,000 increase, while the 1TB version has jumped by ₹65,000.
The unusually large increase at the 1TB level makes the higher-storage models particularly expensive compared with last year's range.
For buyers primarily interested in the latest Pro features rather than additional storage, the 256GB model therefore remains the relatively less expensive way into Apple's new flagship range.
Memory Costs Add Pressure
One major factor being cited behind rising smartphone prices is the increase in memory component costs.
Global demand for memory has been affected by the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure. Data centres and AI systems require substantial amounts of high-performance memory, putting pressure on manufacturers and supplies.
Industry research firm TrendForce has warned about significant increases in memory prices as manufacturers struggle to keep pace with demand.
For smartphone manufacturers, higher memory costs can become particularly important in premium devices that offer large storage capacities and increasingly sophisticated AI features.
Apple Had Flagged Higher Costs
The iPhone 18 Pro price increase follows warnings from Apple that higher component costs could eventually affect product pricing.
The company has already increased prices for some of its other hardware products amid rising input costs.
While Apple does not attribute the entire iPhone 18 Pro price increase to memory alone, the timing highlights the pressure facing consumer electronics companies as semiconductor and other component costs rise.
The higher prices also reflect the increasing complexity of flagship smartphones, which now incorporate more powerful processors, advanced cameras and AI-focused hardware and software.
2TB iPhone Crosses ₹3 Lakh
The introduction of the 2TB iPhone 18 Pro is one of the biggest changes to Apple's storage lineup.
The standard iPhone 18 Pro 2TB costs ₹3,14,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max 2TB is priced at ₹3,29,900.
This marks the first time Apple's Pro smartphone range has reached such a high storage configuration in the India lineup.
The option is likely to appeal primarily to professional users who store large quantities of high-resolution photographs, videos and other data directly on their devices.
For ordinary users, however, the price difference makes the lower storage variants considerably more practical.
Is the iPhone 18 Pro Worth It?
The answer will depend heavily on how buyers value the new hardware and how much storage they need.
The iPhone 18 Pro brings Apple's new-generation A20 Pro chip, display refinements and improved battery performance, while the new storage options give power users considerably more local capacity.
But the price increase is substantial, particularly for the 1TB and 2TB versions.
For an existing iPhone 17 Pro owner, the upgrade may therefore require a closer evaluation of the new features rather than being an automatic decision.
For first-time Pro buyers, the ₹1,64,900 starting price makes Apple's latest flagship a significantly more expensive proposition than last year's model.
