Following the deaths of 18 people in Indore due to contaminated drinking water, the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) has taken decisive steps to improve the city’s water supply, infrastructure, and revenue monitoring. In a Mayor-in-Council (MIC) meeting held on 8 January, presided over by Mayor Meenal Choubey and attended by Commissioner Vishwadeep along with all MIC members, the formation of a dedicated Water Board was approved. The new board will oversee drinking water supply, sewage management, and the maintenance of water resources across Raipur.
