The story is set in Allahabad in the eighth decade of the last century. When farmer Bindeshwar (Rajendra Gupta) asks his son Deepak (Rajkumar Rao) to touch the feet of the master, whose field he tills and grows crops, Deepak refuses. He was not born a master, but wants to become one. When Shankar Singh aka Dadda's (Shankar Singh) men kill him after destroying his father's crop, Deepak reaches out to Dadda and asks for help.
