Aamir Khan on silence over Pahalgam terror attack: Said—It deeply hurt my heart, I was in depression, didn’t step out of the house for several days.

Questions were being raised over the silence of several big celebrities regarding the Pahalgam terror attack that took place on April 22. Recently, when Aamir Khan was asked about his silence, he said that he was in depression after the attack and didn’t leave his house for several days. The actor also revealed that after the attack, he halted the trailer release of Taare Zameen Par and cancelled the premiere of Andaz Apna Apna.

On Aap Ki Adalat, Aamir Khan said, “This incident, this attack, this terrorist strike in our country on our people is a heinous act. Look at their cowardice—only cowards do such things. Terrorists are entering our country and firing at people, firing at families. I could have been there, you could have been there. They are asking people their religion and then shooting at them—what does that even mean?”

Aamir further said, “I have spoken about it, I’m not on social media. Nowadays, things happen and people respond within a second. I'm not on social media. I did speak about it when I attended a function and was asked about it. This attack was not just on our country but on our unity. It was a vile act by those people, for which they have already received a befitting reply. What happens is that some people care about me a bit too much, and so they start saying all these things.”

During the conversation, Rajat Sharma said that when the terrorist camps were destroyed after Operation Sindoor and your statement came out, people said you must have a film releasing soon.

To this, Aamir Khan replied, “If I speak in praise of the strong and fitting response given by our brave soldiers, then am I doing something wrong? At that moment, should I think about my film or about our soldiers? If I start thinking that since my film is coming, I should remain silent—that feels wrong to me.”

Further, Aamir was questioned about releasing the Taare Zameen Par trailer 10 days after his statement. He responded, “Our film’s trailer was supposed to come out much earlier. But when the attack happened in our country, I immediately cancelled everything. That same day, the premiere of Andaz Apna Apna was also scheduled, but I cancelled it. Just like every Indian was filled with anger and deeply hurt, I felt the same emotions. In fact, I was in depression for several days and didn’t step out of the house.”
