During one such conversation, Aamir revealed that at the beginning of his film career, he used to feel very nervous about his height. He even developed a sense of inferiority because of it.
Aamir Khan is currently busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Sitare Zameen Par’. As part of the promotions, he has been giving multiple interviews and openly discussing various aspects of his life.
During one such conversation, Aamir revealed that at the beginning of his film career, he used to feel very nervous about his height. He even developed a sense of inferiority because of it.
Recently, Aamir appeared on a YouTube channel called Just Filmy Things. During the interview, he was asked about a scene in Sitare Zameen Par where his character is called “Tingu” (a slang term for a short person).
Recalling his early days in the industry, Aamir Khan said:
“At that time, Amitabh Bachchan was at the top, and he was over 6 feet tall. Other male actors like Shatrughan Sinha and Vinod Khanna were also tall and well-built. I was very nervous, wondering whether someone of my short height would ever make it in the industry. I was quite concerned—but thankfully, things worked out for me.”
Aamir went on to share how writer Javed Akhtar helped him overcome this insecurity.
He said, “Javed Sahab once told me that a good sense of humor isn’t just for fun and games—it reveals its real strength when you’re going through tough times.”
He explained to me that having a good sense of humor, and the ability to laugh at yourself, acts like a shock absorber in life.
It’s worth mentioning that Sitare Zameen Par is both a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par and a Hindi remake of the Spanish film Champions. The film is being directed by R.S. Prasanna and stars Darsheel Safary and Genelia Deshmukh in key roles. It is scheduled to release on June 20.
Another special highlight of the film is that Aamir Khan’s mother, Zeenat Hussain, will be making her Bollywood debut with this project. Aamir’s sister, Nikit Khan, will also be seen in the film. This marks the first time Aamir will share the screen with both his mother and sister.
