After a 25-year-long journey in Bollywood, Abhishek Bachchan finally achieved a long-awaited milestone at the 70th Filmfare Awards 2025. The actor won his first Best Actor (Male) award for his emotional performance in Shoojit Sircar’s 2024 film I Want To Talk.
The moment turned deeply emotional as Abhishek, teary-eyed, thanked his family and colleagues on stage, sharing how he had rehearsed his winning speech countless times over the years.
The film I Want To Talk tells the moving story of Arjun Sen, a Bengali NRI living in the US whose life turns upside down when he is diagnosed with multiple cancers.
The film, inspired by a true story, explores his struggle to rebuild a broken relationship with his teenage daughter Reya after a difficult divorce. Abhishek Bachchan’s performance was widely appreciated for its honesty, vulnerability, and emotional depth.
To prepare for the role, Abhishek underwent a complete transformation. He gained 20 kilograms to portray Arjun’s vulnerable physical state and did not shy away from showing surgical scars on screen. His dedication helped bring an authentic touch to the character’s painful yet inspiring journey.
A major emotional boost came from his daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, whose childhood story about “help” being the bravest word inspired Abhishek to connect with Arjun’s resilience. The actor also worked closely with director Shoojit Sircar, even assisting behind the camera to stay emotionally invested in the story.
Abhishek Bachchan’s victory for I Want To Talk marks not only a professional triumph but also a personal one, proving that patience, perseverance, and heartfelt storytelling always find their reward.
