Advance Booking for ‘Avatar 3’ to Open on December 5; Film to Release in Six Indian Languages

Advance bookings for James Cameron’s upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash will open across India on December 5, with IMAX and Dolby Vision formats leading the rollout. The sci-fi spectacle, the third chapter in Cameron’s blockbuster franchise, is slated for a worldwide release on December 19.

The film’s distributor, 20th Century Studios, confirmed the booking date through an official Instagram announcement, urging viewers to secure premium seats early for the large-format experience. The studio also reaffirmed that the film will hit Indian theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, continuing its wide multilingual outreach.

Ahead of the release, IMAX theatres nationwide are setting up themed ticket counters designed around the Avatar universe. These kiosks will allow visitors to pose with their tickets, browse exclusive merchandise and engage with franchise-inspired displays—an attempt to build buzz and draw footfall before opening day.

Avatar: Fire and Ash reunites Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña as Jake Sully and Neytiri, with Cameron writing and directing the film alongside long-time collaborators Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The new chapter follows the massive success of its predecessors. The original Avatar (2009) broke global box-office records, while its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), grossed more than $2.3 billion, becoming the highest-earning film of that year.

The franchise’s long-term roadmap also remains in motion, with the fourth and fifth installments slated for 2029 and 2031. Industry analysts expect strong early demand in India, where the series enjoys a large fan base and premium-format screens continue to expand.

With advance ticketing set to open in less than a week, exhibitors are preparing for one of the biggest global releases of the holiday season.
