Diljit Dosanjh Receives Threat After Touching Amitabh Bachchan’s Feet on KBC
Digital Desk
Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has allegedly received a threat from Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, the leader of the banned separatist outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). The warning reportedly came after a promo of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) showed Diljit touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet, a gesture that sparked controversy ahead of the episode’s telecast
Pannu’s Threat Over KBC Gesture
According to reports, Pannu made threatening voice calls to several journalists and individuals, warning Diljit over his gesture of respect toward Amitabh Bachchan. In his recorded messages, Pannu allegedly referenced Bachchan’s alleged role during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, though no such claims have been verified.

Promo Sparks Backlash Before Episode Airs
The episode featuring Diljit is set to air on October 31 as part of KBC Season 17. A brief promotional video showing Diljit bending to touch Amitabh’s feet went viral, drawing strong reactions online. What was meant to be a moment of admiration has now escalated into a politically sensitive controversy following Pannu’s threat.
Earlier Sydney Kripan Controversy
This is not the first time Diljit has been caught in a religious dispute. During his Sydney concert earlier this year, several Sikh attendees were reportedly barred from entering the venue with a Kirpan, a sacred Sikh symbol. The restriction led to protests, and some fans were allegedly removed by security personnel. Despite the backlash, Diljit is scheduled to perform again in Australia on November 1.
Respectful Exchange on KBC
In the upcoming KBC episode, Diljit joins Amitabh Bachchan as a celebrity guest. The teaser shows him entering the set singing his patriotic track “Main Hoon Punjab” before bowing to touch Bachchan’s feet. Amitabh responded affectionately and requested him to sing the title song from “Khuda Gawah”.
Expressing admiration, Diljit said, “Sir, you are very lovely.” The moment reflected the singer’s long-standing respect for the veteran actor.
Rising Sensitivity Around Celebrities and Politics
The incident highlights how simple gestures by celebrities can quickly turn politically and religiously charged. Diljit, who has long balanced his Punjabi roots with a pan-Indian and global career, has not issued any public response.
Neither his team nor the KBC production unit has released an official statement. Meanwhile, security agencies are reportedly reviewing the threat calls made by Pannu, who has previously issued warnings to other Indian public figures.
