Pawan Singh Receives Death Threat Allegedly From Lawrence Bishnoi Gang; Police Strengthen Security After Repeated Calls
Digital Desk
Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh has reported receiving multiple death threats over the past two days, allegedly from a man claiming affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The threat, sent via WhatsApp and followed by repeated phone calls, warned that the actor would be shot “in Lucknow or anywhere in the world,” and urged his associates to ask leaders Pappu Yadav and Upendra Kushwaha “who Lawrence Bishnoi is.”
The message, purportedly sent by an individual identifying himself as Bablu, threatened that Singh’s “countdown starts today” and accused him of working closely with Salman Khan. The sender added that Singh’s “dream of working with Salman Khan will remain unfulfilled” and directed him not to appear with the Bollywood star again.
Singh filed a formal complaint with Mumbai Police on Monday. According to his team, threatening calls were received on December 6 at 10:48 pm and 10:50 pm, and again on December 7 at 7:13 pm and 7:15 pm. Police have assured enhanced protection while the matter is being investigated.
Despite the threats, Singh appeared at the Bigg Boss 19 grand finale in Mumbai’s Goregaon Film City on Sunday. He performed on stage with Salman Khan and actor Neelam Giri, with Salman greeting him warmly and referring to him as the “Power Star.” The appearance is believed to have triggered the latest warning from the gang.
Singh has faced similar threats in the past. In September, he was granted Y+ category security after a video surfaced featuring threats from Maharashtra-based criminal elements. The security cover includes up to four commandos, two PSOs, and multiple escort personnel.
The Bishnoi gang’s hostility toward Salman Khan stems from the black buck poaching case of 1998. Over the years, the gang has issued several threats to the actor, including an incident in April 2024 when shots were fired outside his Mumbai residence. Following that, surveillance and security around his home were significantly upgraded.
Police officials in Mumbai and Bihar are now coordinating to trace the caller and verify the origin of the messages. Investigators are assessing whether the threats are linked to ongoing gang rivalries or are an attempt at extortion, as Singh reported the caller also demanded money.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement, but sources indicate that security around Singh will remain tightened until the case progresses.
