Salman Khan Maintains Ageless Fitness at 59 with Discipline, Home-Cooked Meals and Rigorous Routine

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, often hailed as one of the industry’s most enduring heartthrobs, continues to defy age with an impressive physique at 59. Known for his roles in blockbuster films like Dabangg, Khan recently showcased his sculpted body in a shirtless Instagram post, sparking admiration and curiosity about his fitness regimen.

Salman’s approach to health and fitness is far from extreme or fad-driven. According to his long-time trainer, Rakkesh R Uddiyar, who has been working with the actor for over two decades, consistency and discipline form the cornerstone of Khan’s routine. “Salman doesn’t believe in starvation diets or extreme workouts. His regimen focuses on a balance of strength, cardio, and nutrition,” Rakkesh said in a March 2025 interview.

What makes Salman’s fitness routine stand out? The actor follows a strict six-day workout schedule, dedicating one to two hours daily to a mix of weight training, cardio, and functional exercises such as circuit training. Rakkesh highlighted that even during hectic shooting schedules, Khan never skips his training, often completing sessions late into the night. His trainer also emphasized that Salman never goes to bed without finishing both weight and cardio exercises, describing it as a non-negotiable aspect of his day.

Khan’s dietary approach complements his training. He consumes five balanced, home-cooked meals daily, prepared largely by his mother. The diet emphasizes protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats, while controlled cheat meals are limited to once a week, with overall calorie intake kept below 2,000. Salman reportedly avoids fad diets, focusing instead on sustainable nutrition to fuel his rigorous workouts.

Why this matters: Salman’s dedication is particularly remarkable considering his battle with Trigeminal Neuralgia, often referred to as the “Suicide Disease.” The condition caused severe facial pain, preventing him from performing basic tasks like brushing or eating for more than seven years. Despite the debilitating illness, Khan never compromised his fitness, underscoring the role of mental resilience alongside physical discipline.

Currently, Khan is preparing for his upcoming film, Battle of Galwan, in which he portrays Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu. The project involves shooting in Leh’s high-altitude terrain, prompting him to include specialized low-oxygen training to adapt to the challenging environment. His rigorous preparation demonstrates an ongoing commitment to pushing physical boundaries, even as he nears his sixth decade.

Salman’s fitness strategy offers a blueprint for sustainable health: a combination of regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and disciplined routines rather than short-term or extreme measures. As he continues to inspire fans across generations, his regimen reinforces the principle that age is no barrier to maintaining peak physical condition.
