Actor Shahid Kapoor has confirmed that the second season of his hit web series Farzi will go on floors in March 2026, signalling the return of one of Indian streaming’s most popular crime thrillers. The actor said the upcoming season will push the story into more complex territory, with greater emotional and psychological demands on his character.
Shahid said he recently met directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. to discuss the direction of Farzi 2. He noted that the first season concluded on a dramatic cliffhanger, opening up multiple narrative possibilities. “The character has grown, and with that comes a higher level of conflict. This season will be more challenging for me as an actor,” Shahid said.
Farzi, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video, marked Shahid’s debut in the digital space and received strong audience response for its sharp writing and performances. The series featured an ensemble cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon and Raashii Khanna, all of whom are expected to return for the second season. According to the actor, the confrontations between the central characters will intensify as the stakes rise.
Shahid described his collaboration with Raj and DK as creatively fulfilling, crediting them for crafting layered characters and an engaging storyline in the first season. He said the team is focused on expanding the universe of Farzi without losing the realism that resonated with viewers. The new season is slated for release on Amazon Prime Video in the second half of 2026.
Alongside Farzi 2, Shahid also shared an update on his upcoming film Cocktail 2. He said the film’s shooting is in its final phase and is expected to wrap up by the end of this month. Directed by Homi Adajania, the sequel brings Shahid together with Rashmika Mandanna for the first time, while marking another collaboration with Kriti Sanon.
Describing Cocktail 2 as a fresh story rather than a direct continuation, Shahid said the film introduces new characters and relationships, supported by strong music. “It has its own identity while retaining the emotional appeal audiences expect,” he said. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release in September 2026.
With a major streaming project and a big-screen release lined up, Shahid Kapoor’s slate for 2026 reflects a balance between commercial appeal and performance-driven roles.
