Team of Dharmendra’s Last Film ‘Ekkis’ Shares Emotional Memories at Hungama OTT Awards

The cast and crew of Dharmendra’s final film, Ekkis, paid heartfelt tributes to the veteran actor at the Hungama OTT Awards on Wednesday, recalling their experiences working with the legendary star. Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson and the film’s lead, Agastya Nanda, grew visibly emotional while sharing memories of Dharmendra, while actor Jaideep Ahlawat highlighted the actor’s dedication and skill.

Jaideep Ahlawat, who plays alongside Dharmendra in the film, praised the veteran’s portrayal of Arun Khetarpal’s father, an army officer, describing the role as challenging. “When he came on set, he made the atmosphere so easy. The role was not simple—very few can capture the nuances of a military father, and Dharam ji did it wonderfully. For me, working with him was very special,” Ahlawat said.

Agastya Nanda added, “The love he deserved for this film, he couldn’t see it, which is very emotional for us.” Director Dinesh Vijan also remembered Dharmendra’s warmth and humility, recounting how the actor would personally engage with people on set, even taking time to speak with the lift operator. Vijan noted that Dharmendra had written a poem for the film, titled “Aj Bhi Jee Karda Ae, Pind Apne Nu Jaanwa”, reflecting his deep connection to the project.

Ekkis features Dharmendra in the role of M.L. Khetarpal, father of Agastya Nanda’s character Arun Khetarpal, and also stars the late actor Asrani. The film is scheduled for release on December 25, marking the final cinematic appearance of Dharmendra, whose career spanned decades and left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.

The emotional reflections from the cast and crew underscore Dharmendra’s enduring influence both on and off the screen, highlighting his generosity, dedication to his craft, and the personal connections he built during his illustrious career.
