Dimri, 31, said relatives once warned her parents that she might never marry if she pursued acting, reflecting persistent social attitudes toward women entering the film industry. Despite such pressure, she continued auditioning and building her résumé, crediting family support for helping her persist through uncertainty.
Born in Delhi in 1994, Dimri grew up in a culturally active household where her father, an Air India employee, staged annual Ramleela productions. She studied at Delhi Public School and later graduated in sociology before a modelling assignment led her to Mumbai. A television advertisement opened the door to film auditions, though she said she initially faced criticism about her appearance and was told she did not resemble a conventional leading actress.
Her early filmography included supporting roles and modestly received projects before she secured a lead in Laila Majnu. While the film earned critical appreciation, its limited box-office performance meant she returned to auditions soon after. Recognition grew with streaming releases such as Bulbbul and Qala, which established her reputation as a performer suited to layered, character-driven roles.
Her mainstream breakthrough came in 2023 with Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. Though her screen time was brief, audience response and online engagement surged, earning her widespread visibility and a Filmfare nomination. Industry analysts say the role shifted her positioning from a niche performer to a commercially viable actor, prompting offers from major production houses.
