Will Smith Sued by Violinist Over Sexual Harassment and Retaliation Claims

Hollywood actor and musician Will Smith has been sued by electric violinist Brian King Joseph, who has accused the actor and his company of sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination during Smith’s 2025 concert tour. The civil lawsuit was filed on December 31 in a Los Angeles court against Smith and his production company, Treball Studios Management.

According to the complaint, Joseph, who performed during Smith’s Based on a True Story 2025 tour, alleges that he was dismissed from the tour after reporting a disturbing incident that occurred at a Las Vegas hotel in March 2025. The hotel accommodation had been arranged by the tour management, the lawsuit states.

Joseph claims that upon returning to his hotel room, he found signs that someone had entered it in his absence. He alleges that the room contained a sexually suggestive message written on paper, wipes, a beer bottle, HIV medication labeled with another individual’s name, and hospital discharge documents belonging to someone else. The complaint further alleges that a handwritten note was left in the room reading, “Brian, I’ll be back before 5:30, just the two of us,” accompanied by a heart and signed “Stone F.”

In the lawsuit, Joseph says the discovery made him deeply uncomfortable and concerned for his safety. He claims he immediately informed hotel security and tour management and contacted local authorities through a non-emergency police line. However, Joseph alleges that tour officials dismissed his account and accused him of fabricating the incident.

The complaint states that within days of reporting the matter, Joseph was informed that the tour was “moving in a different direction” and that his services were no longer required. He claims another violinist was hired shortly thereafter, arguing that his termination lacked legitimate cause and was retaliatory in nature.

Joseph, a well-known electric violinist and a finalist on America’s Got Talent, also alleges a pattern of inappropriate conduct by Smith beginning in November 2024. According to the filing, Smith increasingly sought private interactions and once told him, “You and I have a special connection that I don’t have with anyone else.”

The lawsuit seeks damages for emotional distress, financial losses, and reputational harm, with compensation to be determined by a jury. As of publication, Will Smith and Treball Studios Management have not issued a public response to the allegations.

Smith, who rose to fame with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and later starred in films such as Independence Day, Men in Black, and The Pursuit of Happyness, has faced renewed public scrutiny as the case moves forward.
