Veteran actor and filmmaker Sanjay Khan’s wife, Zarine Khan, passed away at her Mumbai residence on Thursday. She was 81 and had been battling age-related health complications for several months. Zarine was the mother of actor Zayed Khan, interior designer Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, and jewellery designer Farah Ali Khan.

Family sources confirmed that Zarine died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Her final rites are expected to be held in Mumbai on Friday.

Born into a Parsi family, Zarine Khan led a life marked by grace, resilience, and quiet strength. Before her marriage to Sanjay Khan in 1966, she made brief appearances in Hindi cinema, including roles in Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Mali. The couple’s love story reportedly began with a chance meeting at a bus stop, later blossoming into a lifelong partnership that endured both triumphs and trials.

Zarine was known for her unwavering support for her husband during his film career and production ventures. She played a crucial role during one of the most challenging chapters in the Khan family’s lifethe tragic fire accident on the sets of The Sword of Tipu Sultan in 1990, which left Sanjay Khan severely injured. Her strength and dedication during his recovery became a defining example of her commitment and fortitude.

Beyond her family life, Zarine was admired for her poise and warmth within Mumbai’s social circles. She is survived by her husband Sanjay Khan and their four children, who have each established themselves in entertainment and design. Her passing marks the end of an era for one of Bollywood’s most respected families, leaving behind memories of a woman who embodied dignity, devotion, and quiet courage.
