Adani Power to Supply Bihar for 25 Years

Adani Power signs agreement to build a 2400 MW plant in Bihar at ₹26,482 crore, ensuring long-term electricity supply.

Adani Power Limited said in an exchange filing on Friday that it has signed a 25-year power supply agreement with Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited. Under this, 2400 MW of electricity will be supplied from a greenfield ultra super critical plant to be set up at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district of Bihar.

Adani Power Limited has signed a 25-year power supply agreement with Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited to supply 2,400 MW of electricity to the state. The Adani Group company gave this information in an exchange filing on Saturday.

The company plans to make a significant investment of about $ 3 billion in the construction of this new plant, which will include three units of 800 MW and associated energy.

The power plant will be built at a cost of Rs 26,482 crore

Adani Power on Saturday said it will set up a 2,400 MW ultra super-critical power plant in Bihar with an investment of $3 billion (about Rs 26,482 crore).

The power will be obtained from a new greenfield ultra super critical plant to be built in Pirpainti area of ​​​​Bhagalpur district of Bihar. Adani Power has secured the project by offering a minimum supply rate of Rs 6.075 per kWh.

This progress comes after the Letter of Award (LOA) given by BSPGCL to APL on behalf of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) in August.

This agreement is in addition to the Letter of Award issued by BSPGCL to Adani Power in August on behalf of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL).

The new plant will be operational in 60 months

The company said it plans to invest around US$3 billion under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model to build the new plant (800 MW x 3) and its supporting infrastructure. The company aims to commission the plant in 60 months.

How many people will get employment from this project?

The coal linkage for this power plant has been allotted under the Shakti Policy of the Government of India. The project will generate direct and indirect employment for 10,000-12,000 people during the construction phase and 3,000 people during operation.

A component of the group led by billionaire Gautam Adani, Adani Power is the largest private thermal power producer in India. It has an installed thermal power capacity of 18,110 MW.
