Godrej was the first company to launch a refrigerator in India in 1958. While the brand is well-known across households, many are unaware of its pioneering role in bringing refrigeration technology to the Indian market.
William Cullen invented artificial refrigeration in 1748 but the first domestic electric refrigerator was made in 1913. Refrigerators were imported to India from 1928 but in 1958 Godrej Boyce introduced the first Indian refrigerator. This refrigerator had automatic temperature control and porcelain interiors for easy cleaning.
Scottish professor and physician William Cullen first invented artificial refrigeration in 1748. However, his invention did not come in the form of a refrigerator. Then in 1913, Fred W.
