Maruti Sells 21 Cars a Minute on Navratri’s First Day; Mercedes One Every Six Minutes

India’s auto industry hit top gear this Navratri, with record-breaking sales driven by the government’s GST 2.0 reform, which slashed tax rates on vehicles.
Calling it a “Bachat Utsav,” Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) vice president Sai Giridhar said Navratri 2025 will be remembered as a milestone in India’s automobile retail history.
🚗 GST Cuts Fuel Festive Boom
The government’s reduction in GST on cars and bikes just before the festival made vehicles more affordable, sparking a surge in demand as families rushed to make purchases during the auspicious season.
🔥 Record-Breaking Sales
- Maruti Suzuki sold nearly 21 cars every minute — about 30,000 vehicles in a single day.
- Hyundai Motor India sold 8 cars per minute, crossing 11,000 units on Day 1.
- Tata Motors sold 7 cars per minute, reaching 10,000 vehicles in one day.
- Mercedes-Benz India sold one car every six minutes, totaling 2,500 cars during Navratri.
In just three days, Maruti Suzuki sold 75,000 units, with small car sales doubling year-on-year.
