NSEFI Expands Mandate to Drive Integrated Decarbonization with Launch of New Subsidiary

NSEFI Sustainable Energy Federation of Industry aims to emerge as a unified platform to accelerate India's transition to a Net Zero Economy.

The National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) today announced a significant evolution in its organizational structure with the launch of its new subsidiary, NSEFI Sustainable Energy Federation of Industry. This strategic move marks NSEFI's transition from a primarily solar-focused industry body to a comprehensive platform addressing India's integrated decarbonization agenda.

The new subsidiary will expand NSEFI's engagement beyond Solar, Energy storage (Short and Long Duration), and Renewable Energy manufacturing to include emerging sectors such as Green Hydrogen and other Green Molecules. It will also take on a broader mandate encompassing Industrial and Mobility decarbonization, thereby positioning NSEFI as a key enabler of India's net-zero ambitions.

said: Speaking on the announcement, NSEFI CEO Subrahmanyam Pulipaka "India's rapid progress in decarbonizing electricity generation has become a global benchmark. Building on this strong foundation and a membership base of over 1,000 stakeholders, it is a natural progression for NSEFI to expand its advocacy from the supply side to include the demand side as well. As we move toward our 2030 targets, an integrated, cross-sectoral approach will be critical to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 and India's Net Zero goal by 2070."

Decarbonization in India is driven across four key pillars Electricity, Agriculture, Industry, and Mobility. Over the past 13 years, NSEFI has played a pivotal role in advancing electricity decarbonization in collaboration with its members. In 2023, the Federation launched the India Agrivoltaics Alliance to promote sustainable decarbonization across the Agri-food value chain. This was followed by the establishment of the NSEFI Green Data Center Coalition, addressing the clean energy needs of India's rapidly expanding digital infrastructure.

With the creation of the NSEFI Sustainable Energy Federation of Industry, the organization will now integrate its ongoing efforts in Electricity and Agriculture with new focus areas in Industrial and Mobility decarbonization, creating a unified platform to accelerate India's transition to a Net Zero Economy.
