"OYO will no longer be just OYO – the good news is, you can earn up to ₹3 lakh!"

In the coming days, OYO will disappear from the market — but if you think the company is shutting down, you're mistaken. In fact, the company is changing its name.

OYO’s founder Ritesh Agarwal had asked people for suggestions for a new name on May 29. The suggestion window has officially opened today, i.e. June 9, and it will close soon. Ritesh Agarwal shared this update through his social media accounts.

What Should the New Name Be Like?

Ritesh Agarwal has laid out some criteria for the new name:

  • The new name should be a single word.

  • It should have a global appeal, meaning it shouldn’t be tied to a specific culture or language, but should be relatable to people around the world.

  • It should sound technically progressive yet be emotionally resonant or easy to remember.

  • The name should be versatile enough to work if the company enters industries beyond hospitality.

  • Most importantly, the .com domain must be available.

What Will the Winner Get?

If your suggested name gets selected, you’ll receive a cash prize of ₹3 lakh and a chance to meet Ritesh Agarwal in person.
