RPSC assistant professor exams see mass failure again; fresh recruitment applications open
Digital Desk
The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) is facing renewed scrutiny after results of the Assistant Professor recruitment for the Sanskrit Education Department revealed widespread failure across several subjects, with no candidate qualifying in key disciplines. The outcome has once again raised concerns over evaluation standards and syllabus alignment.
According to official data, not a single candidate cleared the written examination in General Philosophy and Rigveda. Only one candidate each has been shortlisted for interview in Yoga Science and Linguistics. Earlier results had already shown zero qualifiers in Dharmashastra, Jyotish Falit and Yajurveda, pointing to a pattern of consistently poor success rates.
The recruitment process, announced on January 12, 2024, was conducted for 200 Assistant Professor posts across 15 subjects. Major disciplines included Hindi (37 posts), English (27), Political Science (5), History (3), General Sanskrit (38) and Sanskrit Literature (41). Other subjects with limited vacancies included Grammar (36 posts), Dharmashastra (3), Jyotish Ganit (2), Yajurveda (2), Jyotish Phalita (1), Rigveda (1), General Philosophy (1), Linguistics (2) and Yoga Science (1).
While the commission has not issued a formal response on the mass failure, candidates have expressed concern over the difficulty level of the papers and the absence of transparency in evaluation. Education experts have warned that prolonged recruitment delays and repeated failures could worsen faculty shortages in government Sanskrit colleges.
Meanwhile, the RPSC has opened applications for other recruitments. The application process for 12 posts of Protection Officer in the Women and Child Development Department begins today, December 24, and will remain open until January 22.
Applications are also underway for 12 posts of Inspector (Factories and Boilers) and one post of Inspector (Factories–Chemistry) in the Factories and Boilers Inspection Department. The last date to apply for these posts is January 12.
In addition, the commission has issued an advertisement for 28 posts in the State Forensic Science Laboratory. Online applications for these positions will begin on December 29 and close at midnight on January 27, 2026. Detailed eligibility and category-wise information is available on the RPSC website.
