BARC Opens Applications for Scientific Officer Posts Through OCES-2026 and DGFS-2026

The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has launched its recruitment drive for Scientific Officers (Group A Gazetted posts) under the Department of Atomic Energy.

Applications opened on December 22, 2025, and will close on January 21, 2026. Interested candidates must apply online via the dedicated portal at barcocesexam.in.

This recruitment targets engineering graduates and science postgraduates through two flagship training programmes: the one-year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES-2026) and the two-year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates (DGFS-2026).

Successful trainees are appointed as Scientific Officers across various DAE units, including BARC, with opportunities in cutting-edge nuclear research and technology.

Candidates need a BE/BTech, BSc, MSc, or integrated MSc from a recognised institution, securing at least 60% marks. Age limits, calculated as of August 1, 2026, stand at 26 years for general category, 29 for OBC, and 31 for SC/ST, with further relaxations as applicable.

During the training period, selected candidates receive a monthly stipend of ₹74,000. Upon completion, they enter Pay Level 10 of the 7th Pay Commission matrix, starting at a basic pay of ₹56,100. With allowances, total monthly emoluments can reach around ₹1.35 lakh, depending on posting location.

The application fee is ₹500 for general and OBC male candidates; women, SC/ST, and certain other categories are exempt.

Screening occurs either through a valid GATE score (2024, 2025, or 2026) or BARC's online exam, scheduled tentatively for March 14-15, 2026. Shortlisted applicants face interviews, with final selection hinging on performance and medical fitness.

A correction window runs from February 7 to 14, 2026, while GATE scorecard uploads are due between March 26 and April 2.

To apply, visit barcocesexam.in, register for OCES-2026 or DGFS-2026, fill the form, upload documents, pay the fee if required, and submit. Keep a printout for records.

This drive offers a prestigious entry into India's nuclear sector, combining rigorous training with strong career prospects and benefits.
