Government Job Alert: Railways announces recruitment for 22,000 Group D posts; applications open from January 21

Vacancy Details

A total of 22,000 posts will be filled in different departments. Major vacancies include:

• Assistant (Track Machine) – Engineering: 600

• Assistant (Bridge) – Engineering: 600

• Track Maintainer Grade IV – Engineering: 11,000

• Assistant (P-Way) – Engineering: 300

• Assistant (TRD) – Electrical: 800

• Assistant Loco Shed – Electrical: 200

• Assistant Operations – Electrical: 500

• Assistant (TL & AC) – Electrical: 500

• Assistant (C & W) – Mechanical: 1,000

• Pointsman-B – Traffic: 5,000

• Assistant (S&T) – Signal & Telecommunication: 1,500

Educational Qualification

Applicants must have passed Class 10 or possess a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) from an NCVT-recognised institution.

Physical Eligibility

For male candidates:

• Walk 100 meters carrying 35 kg weight in 2 minutes (without putting it down)

• Run 1,000 meters in 4 minutes 15 seconds

For female candidates:

• Walk 100 meters carrying 20 kg weight in 2 minutes (without putting it down)

• Run 1,000 meters in 5 minutes 40 seconds

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years

• Maximum age: 36 years

Application Fee

• General/OBC/EWS: ₹500

• SC/ST/EBC/Women/Transgender: ₹250

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected through the following stages:

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

3. Document Verification

4. Medical Examination

Salary

Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary ranging from ₹22,500 to ₹25,380.

• General & EWS: 40

• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 30

• SC/ST: 30

Exam Languages

The examination will be conducted in multiple languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and others.

• General Science: 25 questions (25 marks)

• Mathematics: 25 questions (25 marks)

• General Intelligence & Reasoning: 30 questions (30 marks)

• General Awareness & Current Affairs: 20 questions (20 marks)

• Total: 100 questions, 100 marks
