2. Nine British Universities to Open Campuses in India
In a major education partnership, nine British universities are set to establish campuses in India.
The announcement came during British PM Keir Starmer’s visit to Mumbai, where he and PM Narendra Modi signed multiple trade and defense cooperation agreements.
As part of the new defense pact, Indian Air Force instructors will train with Britain’s Royal Air Force, strengthening military collaboration.
PM Modi said the agreements would boost trade, simplify imports, and create new employment opportunities for Indian youth.
3. Karnataka Introduces Period Leave Policy
The Karnataka government has approved the Menstrual Leave Policy 2025, granting 12 days of paid leave annually to women employed in government departments, IT firms, garment factories, and private companies — making Karnataka the first Indian state to implement such a policy across multiple sectors.
4. IAF to Receive First Tejas Mk1A Fighter Jet
The Indian Air Force will receive its first Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk1A on October 17 in Nashik.
The handover ceremony, attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, will include two aircraft — part of an order for 68 single-seat fighters and 29 twin-seat trainers built by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
