MCC Extends Deadline for NEET PG 2025 Round‑2 Counselling , More Time for Candidates to Fill Preferences

In a key update for NEET PG 2025 aspirants, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially extended the deadline for Round‑2 choice filing under the All India Quota (AIQ), giving candidates additional time to submit their course and college preferences.

The extension follows the addition of 2,620 new seats to the Round‑2 seat matrix  bringing the total seat count to 32,080, which includes 17,623 clear vacancies, 11,837 virtual vacancies, and the newly added seats.

Under the revised schedule:

  • Round‑2 registration and fee payment remain open until December 9, 2025.

  • Choice filling and locking  originally set to close on December 9 now benefit from the extended timeline.

  • Seat allotment processing is scheduled for December 10–11, with results expected on December 12.

  • Those allotted seats must report to their assigned colleges between December 13 and December 21, 2025.

What This Means for Candidates

The extension offers critical breathing space for those who were pending in Round‑1 or seeking upgrades. It also gives fresh hope to candidates vying for the newly added 2,620 seats. With more time, aspirants can carefully weigh their options and lock in their placements without rushing.

Eligible candidates — those who qualified in NEET‑PG 2025  and who are either unallotted from Round‑1, wish to upgrade, or had previously declined or not reported to a Round‑1 seat  may participate in Round‑2 under the AIQ quota.

According to MCC, all eligible candidates must complete the entire process through its official portal (mcc.nic.in). Along with registration, they must pay the requisite fee, fill out their course/college choices, lock preferences by deadline, and await seat allotment results.

Official Rationale

The MCC’s decision to extend the deadline comes in the wake of seat‑matrix revisions and seat additions, prompting the extra time to ensure a smoother, fairer counselling process. The panel aims to accommodate students impacted by recent changes while preserving fairness and transparency.

As medical seats in India remain in high demand, this delay could prove beneficial for many. Aspirants are urged to stay updated via the official MCC portal, verify document requirements, and complete their choices before the extended deadline to secure admission.
