NEET PG Counselling 2025: Round 2 Deadline Extended

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the deadline for Round 2 of NEET PG Counselling 2025, offering candidates additional time to complete choice filling and locking for postgraduate medical admissions. The extension comes in response to requests from aspirants and stakeholders seeking more time amid ongoing seat matrix updates and reporting-related concerns.

According to the revised schedule, candidates participating in Round 2 can now submit and lock their preferences within the extended window. The allotment process will proceed after the new deadline, followed by reporting at allotted colleges as per the updated dates to be notified. Officials said the decision aims to ensure wider participation and reduce last-minute errors during choice selection.

NEET PG Counselling is conducted for admission to MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses across government, deemed, and central universities, as well as ESIC and AFMS institutions. Round 2 is particularly significant as it allows candidates who were not allotted seats in Round 1, or those who opted for upgradation, to secure admissions based on revised availability.

Medical education authorities advised candidates to carefully review the seat matrix, eligibility criteria, and category-specific rules before finalising their choices. They also cautioned that failure to lock choices before the deadline would result in the system automatically locking the last saved preferences, which could affect allotment outcomes.

The extension is expected to benefit candidates facing technical issues, documentation delays, or uncertainty regarding seat vacancies after Round 1 reporting. It is also likely to help those considering participation after resignations and withdrawals created fresh vacancies across institutions.

Following the Round 2 seat allotment, candidates must report physically to their allotted colleges within the stipulated timeframe to complete admission formalities. Non-reporting or failure to join may attract penalties as per counselling rules, including forfeiture of security deposits in applicable cases.

Officials reiterated that candidates should rely only on official counselling updates and adhere strictly to timelines to avoid disqualification. Further rounds, including Mop-Up and Stray Vacancy rounds, will be conducted later to fill remaining seats, subject to availability and regulatory guidelines.

The extension underscores the counselling authority’s effort to maintain transparency and fairness in the admission process while accommodating genuine concerns of aspirants during a critical phase of postgraduate medical admissions.
