Parul Singh Represents Para Community at Nari Shakti Vandan Programme, Calls for Inclusive Women Empowerment

Emphasises accessibility, equal opportunities, and stronger policy support for women with disabilities.

Parul Singh, Delhi State President of the Para Olympic Committee, attended the Nari Shakti Vandan programme at Vigyan Bhawan, where she represented the para sports community and wider para society.

The event, addressed by Narendra Modi, was attended by key leaders including Annapurna Devi, Union Minister for Women and Child Development; Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister of Delhi; and Lok Sabha MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Kamaljeet Sehrawat. The programme focused on strengthening women’s participation in governance and nation-building.

The Prime Minister described the initiative as a defining reform of the 21st century, highlighting the proposed implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act to enhance women’s representation in legislative bodies. He also underlined that greater participation of women leads to more inclusive and responsive governance. 

At the programme, Parul Singh expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Delhi Chief Minister for providing a platform that recognizes women’s contributions across sectors, including the para community.

Highlighting the need for inclusion, she said women from the para community continue to overcome multiple barriers and are proving their capabilities across fields. She emphasizedIMG-20260414-WA0014 that ensuring accessibility, equal opportunities, and policy support is essential for their full participation.

 

 

 

She also pointed out that women are increasingly entering and excelling in sectors once considered male-dominated, reflecting a shift in societal thinking.

Parul Singh noted that greater participation of women in economic and political spaces strengthens governance, especially in key areas like health, education, and social development. She urged women to actively engage in public processes and contribute to shaping the country’s future.

She concluded by stating that empowering women, including those from the para community, is essential for India’s growth and requires collective efforts to ensure equal participation at every level.
