Patiala Locomotive Works Opens Applications for 225 Apprentice Posts

Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW), a key Indian Railways production unit, has invited online applications for 225 Act Apprentice positions in various trades for the 2025-26 session.

The application window opened on December 1 and closes today, December 22, at 5 pm. Eligible candidates must apply through the official portal at plw.indianrailways.gov.in.

The vacancies span five trades: Electrician (120 posts), Fitter (50), Mechanic (Diesel) (25), Welder (Gas & Electric) (18), and Machinist (12).

Candidates need a minimum 50% in Class 10 (except for Welder, which requires Class 8) and an ITI certificate from NCVT in the relevant trade.

Age criteria range from 15-24 years for most trades and 15-22 for Welder, calculated as of December 22, with relaxations for reserved categories.

A ₹100 processing fee applies for general candidates, waived for SC/ST/PwBD/women applicants.

Selection relies on a merit list based on matriculation and ITI marks, followed by document verification. No written exam is involved.

Selected apprentices receive stipends starting at ₹9,600 monthly, rising progressively based on training duration and trade.

Applicants must first register on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme portal before submitting on the PLW site.

This recruitment offers hands-on training in a premier railway workshop, boosting skills for future employment in the sector.

Interested individuals should complete applications promptly to avoid last-minute issues.
