SC Rejects Plea for NEET UG 2025 Revised Result

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition demanding a revised NEET UG 2025 result. With this decision, the current result stands valid, bringing an end to the uncertainty for lakhs of aspirants awaiting clarity on the issue.

The Supreme Court today (July 4) dismissed the petition to stay the revised result and counseling of NEET-UG 2025. This petition was filed by Shivam Gandhi Raina, a student who appeared in the exam, challenging the final answer key and result of NEET UG. A bench of Justices PS Narasimha and R Mahadan refused to consider the petition.

The student had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against 3 wrong answers in the final answer key. During the hearing, the counsel for the petitioner argued that these three answers are wrong, to which the Supreme Court remarked that the rest of the answers are correct. The lawyer also clarified that the question paper given to him had four options, to which he has raised objections.

Justice Narasimha remarked that this case is of the same type that we dismissed two days ago. He said that you may be right in principle that there can be multiple answers. Petitioner's lawyer Bala argued that it is related to the career of the students and it is not just an individual matter but it will affect many students.

The lawyer told that this court has ordered to revise the results in 2024. The bench agreed to this and thanked. Advocate Bala suggested that a committee be formed, saying that he has given the right answer and there is a clear error in the answer key. To this, Justice Narasimha said that we cannot resolve the cases of individual examinations. Ultimately, the bench refused to consider the petition.

Which questions did the petitioner object to?

Petitioner Shivam Gandhi Raina accused the NTA of having an error in the answer to a question (Question No. 136, Code No. 47). The petitioner's counsel told the court that the apex court had intervened in the 2024 exam and ordered correction of the errors based on an expert report submitted by IIT Delhi. However, the bench refused to change its stand, saying that individual cases cannot be interfered with in the national exam.
