University of Liverpool Opens Admissions for Bengaluru Campus, Set to Launch in 2026

The University of Liverpool has officially opened admissions for its new international campus in Bengaluru, which is scheduled to welcome its first cohort in August 2026. This marks a major milestone as Liverpool becomes one of the first Russell Group institutions to establish a permanent campus in India.
Located in Alembic City, near Whitefield in Bengaluru, the campus has been designed with modern learning architecture. It includes smart classrooms, modular learning spaces, innovation hubs, and dedicated research laboratories, along with Bloomberg terminals to support hands-on teaching and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered will reflect Liverpool’s global standards but will be tailored to Indian and regional needs. Initial programmes include Computer Science, Business Management, Accounting & Finance, Biomedical Sciences, and Game Design ,the latter being a first for a UK university campus in India.
University officials say students enrolled at the Bengaluru campus will receive UK-accredited degrees, benefitting from Liverpool’s research and industry networks. Students may also have the opportunity to study abroad at Liverpool’s UK campus, thanks to the university’s global mobility scheme.
Eligibility criteria do not mandate a separate entrance exam. Applications will be evaluated through a holistic review based on academic record, a personal statement, and a virtual interview. University of Liverpool For undergraduate applicants, the minimum academic requirement is 75% in class 12 (or equivalent), while postgraduate applicants need a bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent qualifications.
Students applying before 24 November 2025 can enjoy a 100% waiver on the application fee, according to the university’s website.
Liverpool has received formal approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to operate the Bengaluru campus.
The campus aligns with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, supporting the government’s vision of increasing global higher-education access and fostering research-heavy institutions.
According to Lucy Everest, Chief Operating Officer at Liverpool, the campus has been built to support innovation and collaboration: “The new campus will provide our students with the very best facilities … an exceptional learning experience that strengthens their skills and employability.”
With this launch, the University of Liverpool aims to deepen its research footprint in India, focusing on areas like sustainability, digital transformation, health sciences, and innovation.
This development represents not only a significant expansion for Liverpool but also a broader push for internationalisation within Indian higher education, bringing world-class academic options directly to students in India.
