UNSW to Launch Bengaluru Campus by 2026, Bringing World‑Class Education to India

Australia’s top university, UNSW Sydney, has received approval to open its first Indian campus in Bengaluru, with academic operations slated to begin by August 2026. The formal “Letter of Intent” was awarded by India’s regulatory authorities during the third meeting of the Australia–India Education and Skills Council, an event attended by India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Australia’s Education Minister Jason Clare.

UNSW Bengaluru will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including business, media, computer science, data science and a master’s in cybersecurity  mirroring the courses available at its Australian campus.

The campus aims to serve India’s growing demand for quality higher education and provide students an opportunity to obtain degrees from a global top‑20 ranking institution without relocating abroad.

According to UNSW leadership, the Bengaluru campus  located in the Manyata Tech Park, a hub for industry and innovation  has been chosen for its rich ecosystem of technology, research facilities and corporate partnerships. The goal is to deepen collaboration between academia and industry, offering students exposure to cutting-edge research and potential workplace linkages in sectors such as renewable energy, transportation, health, and data‑driven innovation.

“UNSW coming to India will create the highest‑ranked university campus in the country,” said Jason Clare. “This will open up new opportunities for young people in India and bring our two countries even closer together.”

UNSW Vice‑Chancellor Attila Brungs added that the move is part of the university’s global strategy, and expresses commitment to research excellence, academic quality, and preparing students for the demands of a rapidly changing world.

The arrival of UNSW Bengaluru marks a new chapter in India–Australia educational collaboration. For Indian students, it offers access to globally recognized degrees  combining academic rigor, industry links, and global standards while remaining in their home country.

As the campus prepares to open in 2026, interested students have been invited to register interest, with more details on programmes and admissions to be announced soon.
