Asha Bhosle's Last Recorded Film Song to Release on Birth Anniversary
Digital Desk
The legendary singer's final recorded film song, “Ae Meri Zindagi, Tu Chupi Hai Kahan”, will be released on September 8, her birth anniversary, as part of Om Ka Hari.
Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle's voice will return to listeners with the release of her last recorded film song, “Ae Meri Zindagi, Tu Chupi Hai Kahan”.
The song, which features in the upcoming drama-comedy Om Ka Hari, is scheduled to be released on September 8, the birth anniversary of the late singer. Bhosle recorded the track in late 2023, when she was in her 90s.
The song is being presented as a special tribute to Bhosle's extraordinary musical legacy. Director Harish Vyas said the decision to release it on her birthday was intended to celebrate her voice and the generations of listeners who have been touched by her music.
Actor Anshuman Jha, who stars in Om Ka Hari, also spoke about the significance of having Bhosle's voice in the film. He said the song represents an important emotional moment in the story and recalled his experience of working with the legendary singer.
Jha revealed that Bhosle recorded, re-recorded and re-recorded the song again until she was satisfied with the result. According to the actor, she returned to the recording twice after seeing footage from the film because she wanted to revisit the song and ensure that every note worked emotionally.
Om Ka Hari is directed by Harish Vyas and revolves around the relationship between a father and son. The makers believe Bhosle's voice adds another emotional dimension to the film's central theme.
The release also comes months after Bhosle's death in April 2026. Her passing marked the end of a career spanning more than eight decades, during which she became one of India's most versatile and influential playback singers.
There is an important distinction around the description of the song as her “last” recording. Bhosle was also featured posthumously in “The Shadowy Light”, a collaboration with British band Gorillaz that appeared on their 2026 album The Mountain (Parvat). That track was released in March, shortly before her death.
The Om Ka Hari track is therefore being described specifically as Bhosle's last recorded film song as a playback singer, rather than necessarily the final piece of music featuring her voice.
For fans, the September 8 release will offer another opportunity to hear Bhosle's unmistakable voice and celebrate a musical legacy that continues to find new audiences even after her death.
