The tension between India and America over trade and tariff is increasing. US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has said that India is showing a bit of stubbornness in trade talks with America. Amidst the tension between India and America over trade and tariff, the Trump administration has now accepted that India is not a country that takes decisions under pressure from any country.
US Finance Minister Scott Besant, upset with India's stance, has given a big statement. He said that India is showing a 'bit of stubbornness' in trade talks with America.
It is clear from this statement of America that the cleverness of the Trump government has faded in front of Indian diplomacy. Scott Besant gave this answer when he was asked a question about the trade deal between India and America.
He said, "This is a bit difficult target. But we are in a good position. The major trade deals which are yet to be agreed upon include Switzerland and India. India has been a bit stubborn."
He further said that US Trade Representative Jameson Greer and teams of lawyers are busy finalizing these deals.
Talks between India and US continue
US President Donald Trump has recently announced to impose 50 percent tariff on India. Out of this, 25 percent tariff has been imposed because of India buying oil from Russia. This tariff will come into effect from August 27.
This step has been taken when the US team is going to visit India on August 25 for the sixth round of talks on the trade agreement between the two countries.
