Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan over the military conflict last month, top military officials of the two countries shared their views during the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. India's Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan said Operation Sindoor is a lesson for our opponents.

Channel News Asia reported on Sunday that the ongoing tension between the two neighbours drew attention at the meeting of the top global defence forum. India blamed Pakistan-based terror organisations for the deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam, while Pakistan denied any involvement.

Just as India and Pakistan are geographically next to each other, some top generals of the two countries sat in neighbouring conference rooms during the Shangri-La Dialogue on Saturday afternoon and took part in simultaneous sessions on topics ranging from defence innovation solutions to regional crisis-management mechanisms. Referring to Operation Sindoor, General Chauhan said that India has drawn a new Laxman Rekha by not tolerating terrorism.

'Lesson for opponents of Operation Sindoor'

He said that I hope this operation is also a lesson for our opponents. Hopefully they will learn that this is the limit of India's tolerance. General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Pakistan Armed Forces, warned what could happen if there was a conflict again.

He said that if such a conflict occurs next time and cities are targeted first and borders become irrelevant, the situation could deteriorate to a dangerous level. There is a possibility that due to the limited time period, damage and destruction may have already occurred before the intervention of the international community.
