According to the National Weather Forecasting Agency, Cyclone Bualoi has killed one person and left 12 fishermen missing. The storm's heavy rains have caused high seas, with winds reaching 88-117 kilometers per hour.
Hung over the coast for 7 hours
The cyclone lingered near the coast for 7 hours before hitting Vietnam. In this situation, sea waves were surging up to 8 meters high. In Huế City, Vietnam, one person died after being trapped in floodwaters. Meanwhile, in Quang Tri Province, waves swept away four boats carrying 12 fishermen.
28,500 People Rescued
Before Cyclone Bualoi made landfall, the government rescued 28,500 people and evacuated the coastal area. Inclement weather also led to the cancellation and delay of several flights.
Floods worsen the situation
Cyclone Bualoi has been causing heavy rains in Vietnam since Saturday, leading to landslides and flooding in many areas. Heavy rains continued on Sunday. However, hopes are being expressed for relief after the cyclone made landfall yesterday.
10 killed in the Philippines
Before hitting Vietnam, Bualoi wreaked havoc in the Philippines, killing 10 people. Cyclone Ragasa was also seen here before Bualoi. Ragasa also triggered alerts in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China.
