Kamchatka Earthquake: Fresh Tremors Raise Fears of Major Disaster

Earthquake tremors have once again shaken Russia's Kamchatka region, sparking concerns among experts. Is nature signaling a bigger impending disaster? Authorities are monitoring the situation closely.

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Russia's Kamchatka coast with its epicentre 108 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The incident came after a massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake that triggered a tsunami warning. Though of low intensity, it has created panic. Earthquakes are common here due to its location on the edge of the Pacific Plate.

The earth shook once again on Tuesday on the Kamchatka coast in Russia's Far East. The seismic monitoring system confirmed that a magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck about 108 km south-east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

The incident took place at 1:57 pm local time. The earthquake struck at a moderate depth in the ocean, due to which there is less chance of damage on the surface.

However, this earthquake came just a few days after the massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake that shook the Kamchatka Peninsula. That earthquake triggered a tsunami warning across the Pacific region. This time the earthquake may have been of lesser intensity, but it has also created panic in the area.
